"Ong-Bak: The Thai Warrior" is a Thai action film released in 2003, directed by Prachya Pinkaew. The film is renowned for its impeccably choreographed fight scenes and minimal use of stunt doubles and special effects, bringing a level of authenticity and intensity rarely seen in the genre.

The protagonist, Tony Jaa, plays Ting, a young man skilled in the martial art of Muay Thai, from a small village in Thailand. The plot unfolds when the head of Ong-Bak, a revered Buddha statue considered the village's protector, is stolen by an artifact dealer. Ting then heads to Bangkok to retrieve the sacred relic, facing various challenges and opponents in the city's underworld.

"Ong-Bak" stands out not only for Tony Jaa's impressive martial arts skills but also for highlighting aspects of Thai culture, including Muay Thai, which is more than just a fighting style in the film, presented as an art and an integral part of Thailand's national identity.

The success of "Ong-Bak" was not limited to Thailand, gaining international recognition and establishing Tony Jaa as an action cinema star. The film spawned sequels and helped to popularize Muay Thai globally, as well as influencing the martial arts film genre.
