Choosing the right place to live involves understanding the various types of housing available. Each type offers distinct features, ownership models, and community aspects that can greatly influence one’s living experience. Here’s a closer look at some of the most common types of residential spaces:

Apartment

A self-contained housing unit that occupies part of a building. Apartments can vary widely in size, from studios to large multi-bedroom units. They are typically rented by tenants.

Condo (Condominium)

Similar to an apartment, a condo is a private residence within a larger building or community, but the key difference is ownership. Condos are owned individually, and owners may also have shared access to common areas like gyms, pools, and gardens.

Gated Community

A residential community that is enclosed by walls or fences and has controlled entrances for pedestrians, bicycles, and automobiles. These communities often offer enhanced security and exclusive amenities such as private parks, golf courses, and on-site management.

Townhouse

A multi-floor home that shares one or more walls with other similar units but has its own private entrance. Townhouses can be part of a homeowner's association that manages common areas and external home maintenance.

Casa geminada (townhouse) de vários andares que compartilha paredes com unidades vizinhas e tem entrada privativa.

Single-family home

A free-standing residential building that doesn't share walls with any other houses. It offers the most privacy and typically comes with yard space.

Casa unifamiliar (single-family home) independente, sem paredes compartilhadas e com quintal próprio.

Duplex/Triplex

A building divided into two or three units, with each unit having its own separate entrance. These can be rented or owned and might share some common areas like yards or driveways.

Loft

Typically, a large, open-plan living space with high ceilings, often converted from commercial buildings or warehouses. Lofts are popular for their industrial feel and spacious layouts.
