Contáveis dá pra contar: a car, two cars — aceitam a/an, plural e many. Incontáveis não se contam: information, advice, money, water — sem a/an, sem plural, e com much. Por isso “informations”, “an advice” e “a furniture” não existem.
Vários substantivos que são contáveis em português são incontáveis em inglês — e aí nascem os erros clássicos: informations, advices, furnitures. Saber a lista dos principais resolve a maioria dos deslizes.

Como “contar” um incontável
- a piece of: a piece of advice / two pieces of information / a piece of furniture.
- recipientes/medidas: a glass of water, a cup of coffee, a bit of time.
- news é incontável e singular: The news is good (não “are”).
O ângulo executivo
Em e-mails formais, esses erros chamam atenção: “Thanks for the information” (não “informations”), “a piece of advice”, “We've made good progress” (progress é incontável). Acertar isso = texto mais profissional.
Os erros que entregam o brasileiro
- Plural de incontável: ❌ informations, advices, furnitures → ✅ information, advice, furniture.
- a/an com incontável: ❌ an advice / a furniture → ✅ a piece of advice / some furniture.
- news no plural: ❌ The news are… → ✅ The news is…
- many + incontável: ❌ many money → ✅ much money / a lot of money.
